Casa Guiones

Steps from the surf

The Suite

The largest of the four, Casa Guiones opens like a long breath. Vaulted ceilings, a marble island, and sliding doors that disappear into the canopy. Named for the beach a short walk away — the sound of the surf is rarely far.

The Great Room

A house built around one long table.

The living room folds quietly into the jungle through wide sliding doors. Breakfast lingers; lunch arrives without ceremony; the room becomes whatever the day asks of it.

The Kitchen

Marble warm enough to lean on.

A pale marble island, teak cabinetry milled here in Guanacaste, and pour-over coffee at first light. Everything within reach, nothing on display.

Sleep

Linen, teak, jungle.

A wide linen bed with a teak headboard, wooden shutters that fold all the way back. Open them at first light; close them at midnight and the room becomes a small dark cabin in the trees.

The first time guests step inside, they almost always go quiet for a moment. Then they laugh, set down their bags, and start opening every door.

One day, sketched

A day at Casa Guiones.

  1. 06:10

Howler monkeys, a kettle, the first square of sun on the marble.

  2. 07:00

Walk down to Playa Guiones with a board under one arm.

  3. 10:30

Acai bowls back at the island, swimsuits drying on the rail.

  4. 13:00

Long lunch the housekeeper left under a linen cloth.

  5. 16:45

Terrace. A book that opens itself to the same page.

  6. 19:30

Doors open, jungle pressing close to the glass.
